The 28-year-old admitted that he likes the style of play and the refereeing more in the English top flight in the aftermath of Los Blancos’ 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening. He was unhappy with a penalty decision given against him which gave their fierce rivals the opening goal.

“The only thing I will say is that with every passing day I prefer the English Premier League,” Ramos told AS.

“What am I talking about? Obviously not the ball-boys…the style of play, the refereeing.

“People enjoy watching that competition. When you lose it’s easy to focus on the refereeing decisions.”

The former World Cup winner is a top class centre-back who would interest many Premier League clubs. Arsenal and Manchester United are supposedly looking for defensive additions in this transfer window, while both Chelsea and Liverpool could become interested were Ramos to become available.

The Galacticos lost their Copa Del Rey match against Atleti 2-0 at the Vicente Calderon, and will have a lot of work to do to turn the tie around. It is the third time this season that they have lost to the La Liga champions.
