Premier League rivals Stoke City and Liverpool have been strongly linked to a shock move for the Swiss international in the last few days. However, according to the German paper the Italian giants are in pole position to sign the 2014 World Cup star.
The winger will apparently cost the Serie A club around €18 million. This is despite the fact that Inter boss Roberto Mancini was initially interested in signing the player on a loan deal for two or three million euros with an option to buy in the summer.
If he were to sign for the San Siro based club then he would join up with fellow former Bayern ace Lukas Podolski, who is there on loan from Arsenal.
This news will be disappointing news for the Merseyside club, who were looking for the 23-year-old to help turn their so far stuttering season around.
