The player in question is Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul, who was notably brought on by van Gaal for the Netherlands in their penalty shoot-out win over Costa Rica in the quarter-finals of the World Cup this summer.
Krul has also been one of the Premier League’s top shot-stoppers in recent years, and is seemingly top of United’s list to come in if Real Madrid manage to sign current Old Trafford number one David de Gea.
The in-form Spaniard is wanted by Real Madrid as a long-term replacement for the legendary Iker Casillas, and may well be tempted by a return to La Liga after a spell in England.
Krul could be a good signing for the Red Devils, though they will hope to avoid losing one of their best players.
