Monk has confirmed talks between the two clubs are ongoing with the Ivory Coast international currently on national team duty ahead of the African Nations Cup.

The Liberty Stadium manager has ruled out the possibility of also losing Bafatembi Gomis, to Crystal Palace and has ruled out any move for Tottenham full-back Kyle Naughton.

Swansea City paid Vitesse Arnhem a club record £12m for Bony in the summer of 2013 and the 26 year old has proven a big success, racking up 25 goals in 43 Premier League starts.

Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen to strengthen his attack having seen Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic all spend time on the sidelines this season, leaving the club occasionally short of options up front.
