Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has had a sly dig at rival Louis van Gaal by claiming Mancheser United should win the title after spending £15om on new players over the summer.

Koeman’s side travel to Old Trafford to take on the Red Devils in the Premier League on Sunday, having already lost to van Gaal once this season after a 2-1 loss at St Mary’s.
The two Dutchmen have a spikey relationship having previously fallen out whilst working together at both FC Barcelona and Ajax and the Saints boss is clearly hoping to stir things up ahead of their next meeting.
“They have great players so it’s normal that they will fight for titles,” Koeman was quoted by the Daily Mail.
“They have to. How you can spend that money, how can you sign that kind of players, and not be fighting to win titles?”
United spent a British record amount on new players in the summer window, with Angel di Maria the pick of the bunch – arriving from Real Madrid in a club record £59.7m deal.
The other expensive acquisitions included Daley Blind, Radamel Falcao, Ander Herrera, Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw and after a shaky start van Gaal’s men have looked good in recent times and are currently third in the table – one place ahead of Koeman’s side.
