Chelsea and Manchester United look set to face competition from Bayern Munich for the signing of Real Madrid starlet Raphael Varane, according to Marca.

The talented French youngster is one of the most highly rated defenders in the game at the moment, though he has found starting places in the Real team harder to come by this season with the fine form of the likes of Pepe and Sergio Ramos at the back.
Premier League sides have also shown a strong interest in Varane in recent times, though Pep Guardiola now hopes to raid his old rivals and bring the centre-back to the Allianz Arena.
Bayern already have strong options in defence after signing Mehdi Benatia from AS Roma this summer and with other big names such as Jerome Boateng and Dante on their books.
It remains to be seen if Varane would fancy the challenge of competing for a place at Bayern, but Chelsea and United do seem to face missing out on his signature.
