The forward has been the subject of negotiations between the two club throughout the last week, but it would now appear that the pair have come to an agreement. The Citizens will now be able to talk to the 26-year-old about his contract demands.

Bony has been in great form over the last twelve months, and has scored nine goals already this season. However, even if he were to sign immediately, then the striker still can’t play for the Sky Blues until after the end of the African Cup of Nations. He is playing alongside City man Yaya Toure with the Ivory Coast at the tournament.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini is currently having to deal with a striker shortage, with Sergio Aguero and Stevan Jovetic only just returning to full fitness. Edin Dzeko is still on the sidelines with a calf muscle injury.
