Perrin is rated as one of the best young goalkeepers on the continent and his really caught the eye with his performance for Champions League chasing Genoa this season, who have really defied expectations to keep pace with some of Italian football’s bigger clubs.

The 22 year-old has kept clean sheets against Juventus and AC Milan during the course of the season so far and is set to fight it out with precocious Udinese teenager Simone Scuffet to become the long term successor to Azzurri legend Gianluigi Buffon.

The Gunners are being linked with a number of goalkeepers on account of manager Wenger’s falling out with regular first choice stopper Wojciech Szczesny, who was heavily fined and dropped from the Arsenal first team recently after he was discovered smoking in the showers at Southampton following a disappointing Premier League defeat at St. Mary’s.
