Potters boss Mark Hughes will look to make the most of his links with Man City as he attempts to persuade Manuel Pellegrini of loaning the Bosnian to Stoke City following the capture of Wilfried Bony from Swansea City.

Such a move seems doomed to failure given that Pellegrini signed Bony in part due to the manner in which his striking options have been stretched due to injuries suffered by those available to him and therefore signing one striker and then allowing another to leave would pretty much defeat the purpose.

Dzeko is also clearly a very able performer and a player who could yet play his part in Man City’s push to retain their Premier League title.

Though Dzeko has struggled to retain a foothold in Man City’s starting eleven since his £27m move from Wolfsburg in January 2011 the powerful forward has still be a consistent goal-scorer.

Dzeko has bagged 70 goals in 174 appearances for Man City, a stat that is all the more impressive when you consider 65 of those appearances were from the bench.
