Liverpool are ready to meet Fiorentina’s £2m asking price for Brazilian keeper Neto according to the Liverpool Echo.

The 25 year old custodian is out of contract in the summer and his Serie A employers are ready to accept a cut-price bid this month in preference to seeing the goalie leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Simon Mignolet has been something of a disaster since his move to Anfield 18 months ago and was recently dropped by boss Brendan Rodgers though then earned a recall seemingly due to the fact that replacement Brad Jones didn’t really offer much of a viable alternative.

Neto has spent the past four years in Florence and is a very able performer and a player who can ably offer Rodgers a strong alternative to Mignolet for a cost-effective sum.
