The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Southampton on Sunday to drop out of the top three. The defeat has caused some ire amongst fans of the Old Trafford based club, with some accusing manager Louis van Gaal of not improving the team. This is despite the Dutchman having spent over £150 million on transfers over the summer.

The Argentinian was one of those big money signings, arriving for £16 million from Sporting Lisbon. However, he has been unable to play since the beginning of November after dislocating his shoulder in the first Manchester derby of the season. United lost that match 1-0, but the 24-year-old believes that they will avenge that defeat in the next match against the Citizens in April.

“It’s vital we win the next Manchester derby at home in front of our own supporters – I think we are going to win that one,” Rojo told Inside United.

As for expectations from now to the end of the season, well, to try and give my absolute best in every game until the end, and hope that we pick up some good results along the way so we can be in with a shout in the shake-up for the title.

“My minimum objective this year is to qualify for next year’s Champions League. It would be great to pick up a European trophy with this club. That and a league title is what I really want to win.”
