The Switzerland international has committed his future to the Serie A champions for a further two years with the option of another.

The full-back joined the Old Lady from fellow Serie A outfit Lazio in 2011, scored the first-ever league goal at Juventus Stadium when he was on target in the 4-1 home victory over Parma recently.

He has been an integral part of Juve’s recent successes, having established himself as the club’s first choice right-back in his three years there.

However, with his contract running down, both United and Arsenal have declared an interest in his signature, and had hoped to persuade him away from Italy for a nominal fee at some point this month.

The 30-year-old has been a major figure for the Swiss international side, too, representing his country at Euro 2008 as well as the previous two World Cup finals.
