The 26 year old former Sheffield United man has fallen down the White Hart Lane pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino and when called upon this term the defender has looked pretty woeful.

Swans chairman Huw Jenkins is willing to pay £3m for Naughton but his White Hart Lane counterpart Daniel Levy wants £4m, so given there isn’t a massive gap in the two club’s valuations of the player one imagines a deal may be close.

The fact that the South Wales side have just bagged a massive sum from Man City for Wilfried Bony may well make such a gap even less relevant.

Tottenham signed Naughton in July 2009 and he has made a total of just 37 Premier League starts over the past five and a half years.
