Former Red Devil says Sanchez doesn’t convince him at all.

Ex-Manchester United midfielder Lou Macari says he is unconvinced by Arsenal’s £35 million summer signing Alexis Sanchez, even going so far as to say the Chilean is “useless”.

Macari was giving his views following the Gunners’ 3-0 demolition of Stoke City and claimed a lack of star players and quality in the Premier League was making the former Barcelona star look a lot better than he actually is.

Sanchez put in yet another Man of the Match display against the Potters; scoring two, assisting another and creating 10 goalscoring opportunities throughout the match at the weekend.

However, Macari wrote in his column for the Stoke Sentinel that Sanchez’s performance against United earlier in the season proved the Chilean wasn’t a top player and he isn’t convinced by his goalscoring exploits.

“Another difference between the two teams on the day was Alexis Sanchez, of course, and people are inevitably banging on about him because there are so few quality acts in the Premier League,” he wrote.

“I still worry that we are maybe building this guy up too much though. I’ve got to say he was next to useless when I saw him against Manchester United earlier this season.

“For me, a truly top player can turn it on week-in and week-out, home or away, and against the big boys.

“The jury is still out for me where Sanchez is concerned.”

Perhaps Macari wishes Stoke had someone as unconvincing on their side at the weekend, then the match may have been more competitive.
