Preston North End host struggling Leyton Orient under the Deepdale lights on Friday night, with Simon Grayson’s side looking to keep pace with Bristol City and Swindon Town at the top of the League One table, bouncing back from a disappointing defeat to Sheffield United last weekend.
Visiting Orient, meanwhile, saw their revival under Italian coach Fabio Liverani hit the buffers last weekend when they were beaten at Brisbane Road by Fleetwood Town – although last season’s losing play-off finalists have been better on the road this season.
That is also an accusation that could be leveled at Preston, however, with a handful of anomalous results at Deepdale having hampered their chances of breaking into the top two come the end of the season.
The Lilywhites have added Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone to their squad this week, who will replace former Orient man Jamie Jones, although young winger Will Hayhurst was allowed to depart for Notts County.
Visiting Orient have been quiet in the transfer market thus far, but they have plenty of higher level experience with the likes of Jobi McAnuff, Dean Cox and Darius Henderson.
