Ibe could even be in line for a start against Aston Villa at the weekend with the Reds said to be keen on keeping the youngster at Anfield and integrating him into the squad.

The 19 year old has been a prominent feature of Derby county’s season, playing 24 games already this term for Steve McClaren’s side. His five goals have helped them challenge for the Championship’s automatic promotion spots.

The news comes as a shock with Brendan Rodgers confirming his side are also in talks to bring another on-loan star, Divock Origi, back to Merseyside in January.

How both will fit into the Reds match day squad, if both return, is still a mystery but reports confirm that Ibe is on his way back to Anfield.

The youngster joined Liverpool from Wycombe Wanderers in 2012, but has made just two appearances for the side so far.
