The 23 year old had been strongly linked with Liverpool, as well as Everton and Stoke City, but a phone-call with Inter boss Roberto Mancini had such an impact that his choice was made clear.

While Shaqiri had a successful time with Bayern Munich since joining the German giants in 2012 in terms of trophies won – with two Bundesliga medals and the 2013 Champions League – the former Basel star wasn’t happy at the club as a result of a lack of playing time.

The Switzerland international is targeting major success with Internazionale, and is eager to get started and prove his worth.

“I am hungry for success. I can’t wait to get started,” Shaqiri said.

“I want to help Inter return to be at the top in Italy and in Europe. I hope that with this jersey I can return to win titles.”
