The 30-year-old has found first-team opportunities limited this season after a difficult few years out of the team through illness, despite previously being a key player for the Red Devils.

The Scotland international came through the club’s youth ranks and first made it into the first-team on a regular basis during the 2003/04 season, going on to earn the trust of Sir Alex Ferguson.

New manager Louis van Gaal opted to bring in a large number of new signings during the summer, many of them in midfield, and Fletcher no longer seems to be a key part of the first-team set-up at United.

West Brom are leading the chase for his signature, with Fletcher possibly set to move on the cheap due to being out of contract, and available on a free at the end of this season.
