The German international, a World Cup winner with his country in 2014, is widely regarded as one of the finest centre-backs in the world at the moment and has been linked with a move to the Premier League on a number of occasions.
United are believed to be one of his main admirers at the moment, and Hummels has revealed that he is always getting offers to leave Dortmund, though he does not know what his future holds at the moment.
The 25-year-old has backed himself to make the right decision on his future, insisting he has never said he will spend his entire career with Dortmund or turn down the chance to leave.
“I have never said that I will stay here until 2024 or even 2030 and have stayed regardless,” he said.
“I prefer to continue on the path to not promise anything, but in the end maybe just do it [stay] than to say that I’ll stay and then just leave.
“There are always clubs knocking on my door, telling me they are interested. But I have always decided that I don’t want to do it.”
