Liverpool & Tottenham Target Saido Berahino Banned For 12 Months Following Drink-Driving Offence

The West Brom striker faces a year without his licence.

West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino has been banned from driving for 12 months after pleading guilty to a drink-driving charge, reports the BBC.

The 21-year-old went in front of North Cheshire Magistrates in Runcorn after being arrested by Cheshire Police in the early hours of the morning on October 22 last year.

Berahino has also been fined £3,400, although is he attends a drink-driver referral course his ban will be reduced to nine months.

The forward has been in fine form for West Brom this season, scoring 14 goals in 25 matches in all competitions and earning a place in Roy Hodgson’s senior England squad in November as a result.

Although Berahino is yet to earn his first full senior international cap for the Three Lions, the youngster has been doing well in the Under-21s with 10 strikes in 12 appearances to date.

In fact the form of the attacker has attracted the attention of Premier League duo Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, who according to the Daily Express are interested in signing the starlet in this January transfer window.

Both sides are in desperate search of attacking support with their respective senior lineups failing to impress in the final third.
