The 25 year old German forward has been strongly linked with interest from both Real Madrid and Chelsea and given the Westfalenstadion side’s shocking standing in the Bundesliga it’s perhaps no surprise that Reus would be a possible exit bound member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Dortmund sit in the relegation zone and clubs are circling the club, eager to take advantage of this fact.

Sporting Director Michael Zorc has publicly stated his commitment to keep hold of Reus;

“You know, I’ve been confronted with this question about Reus’ future for years now,” he told Bild.

“Almost every week I hear about such rumours. There’s no new developments, we want to continue working with Marco Reus for the long haul.”

The situation isn’t helped by the fact that Reus’s contract includes a very reasonable €25 million release clause, one that both Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti would seemingly be able to afford.

The fact that Klopp’s side are still in the Champions League may allay any January exit.

Dortmund have previously shown an interest in Blues bit-part player Andre Schurrle and this may well aid Mourinho’s move to capture Reus.

One wonders where Reus would fit into Chelsea’s starting eleven with the likes of Eden Hazard and Oscar being regulars it could be that Brazilian Willian may be considered a ‘weak-link’.
