Any move for the 23 year old may prove complicated in so much as the forward is part-owned by Juventus, with the Turin side having to give the ‘all-clear’ to any potential sale to the Premier League side.

Juventus have first refusal on Zaza and if the Serie A giants elect to pass on the marksman then Pochettino may have a hope of luring the powerful forward to north London.

Zaza netted nine goals in 24 Serie A starts last term and earned a call-up to the Italian national team set-up last September and has continued to impress this season, scoring seven goals in 13 appearances for Sassuolo.

This source values Zaza at a very affordable £11m, a fee that looks even better value when you consider the sums Spurs have invested in attackers in recent times.

The likes of Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela have both failed to impress and Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor is no longer a regular and if it were not for young Englishman Harry Kane it’s likely Pochettino’s side would be far lower in the Premier League standings.
