White Hart Lane forward keen to fight for his future at the north London club.

Off-form Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor has been strongly linked with a White Hart Lane exit though by all accounts the former Man City and Arsenal man has no intention of leaving quite yet.

The 30 year old returned to first team action after nine weeks out of action as he came on as a second half sub during Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Sunderland and Adebayor is now keen to get force his way into Pochettino’s plans.

On his return to action Adebayor stated;

“I am very happy and I am very pleased and, yes, now hopefully I can get my form back and enjoy myself on the football pitch. That’s the most important thing.

“I obviously had an issue with my family – things aren’t going along right and I decided to go back home and find a solution for it.

“In between coming back I got a few injuries as well, but, at the end of the day, the most important thing is to get my head right, get my life [right] and, for me, that’s all that matters.

“Now I am back and very happy to be back again playing and doing my job again.”

Pochettino had however been looking to sell Adebayor in order to help fund a move for Martinez and therefore one can see how the forward’s intentions to stay put may impede any potential push to sign the Primeira Liga goal machine.

Martinez has been a huge success since moving to Portugal, bagging an astonishing 80 goals in 115 appearances for FC Porto.

The powerful forward helped FC Porto to a domestic title in his first campaign at the club but has since seen arch rivals Benfica take the mantle at the top of the table and this may lead Martinez to consider a fresh challenge.
