Yaya Toure Committed To Manchester City Despite Exit Speculation Insists Etihad Stadium Boss

The midfielder is going nowhere insists Manuel Pellegrini.

There have been fresh rumours linking Yaya Toure with a Manchester City exit after the midfielder’s rather non-committal response to questions concerning his future at the Premier League outfit.

“That’s a big question and that’s an easy question as well, and you have an easy answer. We’ll see. I don’t know. I’m at City. City is a great club where I’ve achieved lots of things,” the Ivory Coast international was quoted by the Times.

Toure was strongly linked with a departure from the Etihad Stadium over the summer, with initial accusations that the club had forgotten the 31-year-old’s birthday and later stronger claims emerged suggesting he was refused time off to visit his dying brother – as reported by the Metro at the time.

However, any issues between the two parties appeared to have been resolved and after a poor start to the season for the Ivorian, he has since rediscovered some of the form that saw him score 20 Premier League goals last term as City won the title.

Toure is currently away with his national team at the Africa Cup of Nations and is therefore unavailable for selection for the Citizens, but Pellegrini has insisted his star man is still committed to the cause at the Etihad.

“I think Yaya is 100 per cent committed to this team,” the Chilean said.

“I don’t have any doubts about that. I don’t think any of us know what will happen in six months time.

“I repeat, Yaya is very happy here. His commitment with our club is not a problem.”

This campaign Toure has made 26 appearances in all competitions and scored nine goals.
