Samuel Eto’o is on the verge of a move away from Everton to Serie A side Sampdoria with the Cameroon international set to sign an 18 month contract with the Italian outfit, reports the BBC.

Sampdoria hope to have the deal completed this week with the 33 year old set to arrive in Genoa on Tuesday to finalise the deal.
According to reports the most decorated African player of all time is to take a 40% pay cut to make a return to Serie A having previously spent two seasons with Italian giants Inter Milan.
Eto’o has only been at Goodison Park for five months, yet has struggled to get ahead of Romelu Lukaku in Roberto Martinez’s starting line-up and is seeking a fresh challenge.
The former Barcelona forward joined Everton in the summer after his one-year contract with Chelsea came to an end and has registered three goals for the Toffees in eight league appearances proving that he is still a valuable asset to a top-flight side.
Sampdoria are enjoying an excellent season thus far, sitting fourth in Serie A, and the signing of Eto’o would bring some valuable experience to the side.
