Though Arsenal have collected three clean sheets on the trot it’s undeniable that Arsene Wenger is short of options at the back and reinforcements this month will greatly aid the north London side’s push for a top four finish.

The Brazilian is a key member of Marcelino García Toral’s first team set-up and has been a virtual ever present since moving to join the Yellow Submarine in August 2013.

On the subject of a move to the Emirates Stadium Paulista has stated;

“Whether I go to Arsenal or stay at Villarreal, I won’t lose my head,”

“I’m very calm. My head is at Villarreal and I’m very focused. My agent is working on making sure I continue being calm.”

Wenger allowed Thomas Vermaelen to join Barcelona over the summer and this decision coupled with a fair number of injuries to key personnel has left the Arsenal manager desperately short at times this term.

The Frenchman has been forced to use the likes of Nacho Monreal and Mathieu Debuchy as makeshift centre-backs whilst teenager Calum Chambers has been forced to fill a number of positions since moving to the club last summer.

Paulista is yet to play for the senior Brazilian national team and a high-profile switch could help in that endeavour.
