Manchester United fans have spoken out against a move for the Real Madrid star…

Manchester United fans would rather the club kept David de Gea than acquire the signature of Gareth Bale with over 99% speaking out against a move in a supporters’ trust survey, reports the Daily Star.

United have reportedly been plotting a swap deal with Real Madrid for Bale in exchange for de Gea plus £50m. However, Red Devils fans do not want the move to happen – instead they favour their no. 1 to stay put at Old Trafford.

Speculation intensified when Louis van Gaal signed Victor Valdes on a free transfer, suggesting that the former Barcelona stopper was signed as a replacement, rather than a back-up, to the Spaniard – and the Red Devils faithful are not keen for this to happen.

Over 600 fans responded to the question on a Man United supporters’ trust survey posted on their Facebook page – with over 99% preferring that the club kept de Gea.

Since van Gaal’s arrival at Old Trafford the former Netherlands boss has set out to build a new dream-team, which now includes summer signings Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao – and Bale would be a world-class addition to the squad.

Any club would welcome the arrival of the Welsh wizard, but United fans would not want the La Liga star’s arrival to result in the departure of their world-class goalkeeper, and the future of both remains under the spotlight.
