The midfielder has found his game time severely shortened in recent times. This is due to the amount of new signings at Old Trafford meaning he is no longer in the frame to start regularly. Fletcher has played 11 times in the Premier League this campaign, and only four of those were starts.

The Scots’ contract ends in the summer, and he is thought to want a move to get more minutes on the pitch. Whether the 30-year-old would get this at a club like Valencia is unknown – they are currently fifth in La Liga and chasing a Champions League spot.

Fletcher has been at the Red Devils since he was 11-years-old, and has become a major figure in the dressing room. Despite this, it is unlikely that manager Louis van Gaal will especially miss him on the pitch should he leave with the likes of Daley Blind, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini all ahead of the Scotland international for a place in the starting XI.
