Arsenal Target Winston Reid Edges Closer to Upton Park Exit as Hammers Identify Replacement

One of Arsenal’s top defensive targets looks close to securing a move, with West Ham defender Winston Reid set to be replaced ahead of a possible Emirates switch…

Winston Reid has been heavily linked with a move away from Upton Park recently, and West Ham look resigned to losing the New Zealand international as they have already identified his replacement, according to the Daily Mail.

The Hammers have been one of the surprise packages so far this season, largely thanks to their excellent defensive performances. They look certain to lose one of their star performers however, with Reid entering the final six months of his current deal with the club.

It seems unlikely that the 26-year-old will sign an extension, with Everton and Arsenal showing interest in the tough tackling centre-half. Sam Allardyce is therefore already on the lookout for a replacement, and looks to have found one in the form of Marseille man Nicolas N’Koulou.

The East London club claim they will not be forced to sell this January, and would rather hold on to Reid until the end off the season. If a tempting offer does come in however, they are prepared to move for the 24-year-old Cameroonian.
