The 21 year old right-sided player is into his third season in the Elland Road first team set-up and is considered one of the best players outside the Premier League.

The Championship side turned down a £4.5m bid from Southampton for the Essex born starlet over the summer but financial woes may well mean the club can not turn down an offer of that nature this month.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has developed a reputation for trusting to youth and has brought in a number of youthful additions in recent transfer windows.

Rodgers has also shown faith in the young talent he posseses in his Anfield squad with his nurturing of England man Raheem Sterling perhaps a testament to that fact.

Leeds United sit just above the relegation zone and boss Neil Redfearn would be loathed to lose a key player at this juncture.
