The legendary goalkeeper, who famously kept England out of the 1974 World Cup, has told the Arsenal star that he would do well to secure a loan move away from the club.

Szczesny’s performances has come in for a great deal of criticism lately, following a poor 2-0 defeat to Southampton on New Year’s Day, which was made worse after he was caught smoking in the showers after the final whistle.

He has since been dropped in favour of Colombian international David Ospina, who has distanced himself from his Polish counterpart by keeping two clean sheets since taking over.

And now Tomaszewski believes the 24-year-old should look to move on for a short spell elsewhere.

“Wojciech should look for a loan,” he said.

“He won’t lose anything, he will continue to be bound by a contract with Arsenal, but will be able to count on regular game-time.”
