Toronto FC Sign Sebastian Giovinco From Juventus

MLS side Toronto FC have signed 27 year old Juventus midfielder Sebastian Giovinco.

He becomes their second major signing of the winter after the club earlier signed Jozy Altidore from Sunderland.

It was thought Giovinco could move to either Spurs or Arsenal, but Toronto have agreed to pay him THREE TIMES his salary in Italy in order to lure him to the US.

The Canadian side will not have to pay a fee, with Giovinco’s contract expiring in the summer. He has made 21 appearances for Italy and 131 for Juventus.

It is being hailed as a major moment in MLS history, being the first time a player supposedly in his peak has signed from a major European club.
