Parma have seen their attempt to take Mario Balotelli on loan rejected by Liverpool.

The Anfield side have been improving in recent weeks, culminating in their impressive display against Chelsea in the League Cup semi final last night.

Their upturn in form hasn’t seen any improvement from Mario Balotelli, however, who is still yet to score a league goal this season. He has missed the Red’s last couple of games through illness, and Fabio Borini has now firmly established himself as Rodgers’ second choice striker behind Sturridge.

According to gianlucadimarzio.com, Parma offered the Italian an escape route on loan until the end of the current campaign, but Liverpool rejected the offer. The site also reported that they enquired about Milan’s Giampolo Pazzini, but were also spurned.

Rodgers is unwilling to lose his £16 million striker, especially with Liverpool looking unlikely to dip into the January transfer window.
