Any hopes Manchester United had of re-signing Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo look to have faded, after the Portuguese forward revealed that he hopes to finish his career playing in Brazil.

Reports in the Metro carry quotes from the 29-year-old, who said: “Corinthians and Flamengo are two famous club, I would gladly dress in one of their shirts.

“In Brazil I have many friends, so my relationship with the country is very good. At Real I have passed many Brazilians, with Kaka one of the people I respect most of all.”

The three-time World Player of the Year, who won his latest Ballon d’Or title last week ahead of long-time rival Lionel Messi and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, had previously been linked with a move back to Old Trafford.

However, it appears that any such move will not be happening, with Ronaldo seemingly outlining the plans for the rest of his career. Plus, having scored 288 goals in 276 games for Madrid, including 36 already this season, it might still be some time before the European Champions let him go.
