Could James Milner be tempted by Inter Milan’s reported staggering offer…

Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini is prepared to offer Manchester City midfielder James Milner £200,000-a-week to join the Serie A giants when his contract with the Premier League champions expires at the end of the season, reports the Daily Star.

Mancini, who brought Milner to City in a £28.5m deal in 2010, is eager to be reunited with the England international – who remains unconvinced by Manuel Pellegrini’s attempts to tie him down to a new long-term deal.

The 29-year-old has been free to talk to foreign clubs since the start of the month, with negotiations with City having rumbled on for over four months. The midfielder wants assurances on his game time, with the City boss openly chasing additions to his midfield.

Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus is among the names that have been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium, with the German’s potential arrival prompting Milner to look elsewhere, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Roma also interested.

However, the trio are unlikely to be able to match Inter’s offer, as the Milan side attempt to finance a return to Champions League football, following another difficult season which currently sees them in ninth place in Serie A, seven points adrift of the top three.
