They are apparently willing to let the Toffees have Younes Kaboul and Aaron Lennon as well as cash in a deal that would total £20 million for the Irishman. Spurs were apparently interested in the midfielder when the Blues bought him 18 months ago.
The 24-year-old has been struggling with hamstring injuries in the current campaign, and has only made 17 appearances for the Goodison Park outfit so far. However, he is a key player for manager Roberto Martinez when fit and it is therefore unlikely that he would be sold during the January transfer window.
McCarthy is thought to be unhappy with the Blues’ hierarchy after they backtracked on a contract that they were going to offer following his brilliant first season with the side. If he were to now leave it would be a massive blow to the already under pressure Martinez.
