The future of Sterling, who is comfortably the Reds’ most prized asset after his performances last season catapulted into a position of being one of the most exciting young players in world football, has been one of the dominant stories at Anfield this season, with reported interest from Chelsea leaving the England international’s future potentially hanging in the balance.

Speaking in a radio interview however, Rodgers suggested that a deal between player and club would be tied up in the near future and indicated that fans have nothing to worry about when it comes to their star man’s Anfield future:

“It is something the club are speaking with his representatives on and I would think that would be concluded very imminently,” the Norther Irishman was quoted by ESPN.

“The player is very happy.”

Coupled with their impressive recent form – that continued with a good performance in the 1-1 Capital One Cup semi-final first leg draw with Chelsea this week – the news about Sterling is likely to add to the good feeling that is emanating from the club currently after a difficult season to date.
