Michael Essien has rejected a move to the MLS.

The former Chelsea enforcer was offered a transfer to MLS side Dallas, but rejected the move after being unable to agree personal terms. Essien is furious at the failure, especially given his agent is the son of Dallas’ Technical Director Fernando Clavijo.

The 32 year old only joined AC Milan 12 months ago, but will see his contract expire in the summer and is reportedly still keen on a move to the US, despite the Dallas set back.

There is no guarantees he will move to the US, however. It is being reported that the Premier League’s Burnley and Leicester City are keen on the midfield hard man, and will look to speak to the player in the coming weeks.

Essien’s agent confirmed the situation to Gazzetta Dello Sport, saying, “[Essien’s] contract expires in June and just like Giovinco, he could sign with any team for next season. FC Dallas made an offer but it was deemed too low”.
