Brazilian defender heading to the Emirates Stadium.
Spanish La Liga outfit Villarreal have confirmed that an agreement is in place for Brazilian central defender Gabriel Paulista to join Arsenal, report Sky Sports, with El Submarino Amarillo reportedly making the announcement ahead of their La Liga clash against Levante at El Madrigal this evening.
Gabriel has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks as it became more apparent that Emirates Stadium boss Arsene Wenger was keen to add defensive cover to his squad as a result of injuries leaving his side short during the opening weeks of the season.
The report also suggests that young striker Joel Campbell will move to Villarreal on loan until the end of the season as a part of the deal, with the Costa Rican international having struggled to establish himself in the first team at Arsenal since returning from a loan spell with Olympiakos in the summer.
It is not yet clear whether Gabriel is seen as cover for first choice pairing Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker or a first choice option on his own, but the former Vitoria man has been superb for a Villarreal defence that has been in fine fettle this season.
