The forward hasn’t featured for the Reds since the end of August in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

An injury whilst on international duty followed by a number of setbacks has seen the former Chelsea and Man City man stay in the treatment room for an extended period whilst his side have sorely missed his presence upfront.

And Sturridge says he is a ‘happy man’ after his first training session since his return from injury in a tweet posted earlier today.

Liverpool fans will be hoping their main man will soon be fit enough to start after seeing summer signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert flop terribly.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers hinted just last week at Sturridge’s imminent return and said how key the forward was to his side’s success.

“Daniel Sturridge is back and working well. Obviously he’s not ready to play as of yet but hopefully he’ll be ready in the near future,” he said, reports Daily Mirror.

“Daniel is a key player for us. You put him into any team and it makes them better.

“His pace is frightening, his touch, his movement, and he’s also improved the defensive part of his game in order to press the ball.”

Liverpool fans will certainly be hoping he’s now put his injury troubles firmly behind him.
