Bayern Munich have pulled out of the race to sign Lionel Messi after CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge claimed that there is no possibility of such a move, reports the Daily Star.

Rummenigge believes that a deal for Messi is almost impossible, as the four-time World Player of the Year will never want to leave the club and equally Barcelona will never look to sell their superstar:

“Messi and Barcelona are like a marriage for a lifetime,” the Bayern CEO was quoted as saying.

“They should not be separated from each other, just like Bayern and Philipp Lahm,” Rummenigge continued.

“I know those in charge at Barcelona pretty well, they will never sell him.”

Nevertheless, it is improbable that Rummenigge’s comments will put off Premier League giants Manchester United, Chelsea or Manchester City against an attempted move for the Argentina captain.

However, unless Barca’s no.10 puts in a transfer request, the 250m million-euro release-clause should ward off interest, with Financial Fair Play a significant concern.
