The 21 year old is considered one of the hottest prospects in Spanish football and has been a regular at the Mestalla this term, netting five goals and providing another five assists in 15 La Liga starts, and the forward is set to sign a new long term contract with Valencia that would run until 2020.

The deal would also include a massive buyout clause and it would appear that Brendan Rodgers has little hope of luring Alcacer to Anfield and would do well to look elsewhere.

Rodgers has seen both Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert struggle for form since their summer moved to Merseyside and the lengthy injury lay-off suffered by Daniel Sturridge has merely exacerbated matters and Liverpool would do well to sign a striker this month to help in their push for a Champions League berth for next term.
