The versatile attacker has become something of a bit-part player and growing speculation regarding Jose Mourinho’s interest in Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado may well be fueling the World Cup winner’s desire to leave Chelsea this month.

Chelsea paid £18m to land Schurrle in June 2013 and the cultured attacker made 30 Premier League appearances in his debut campaign, albeit half from the bench.

This season Schurrle’s involvement in the first-team set-up has become more limited with Mourinho handed the 24 year old just five Premier League starts with just one of those coming in the past three months.

Schurrle is said to be keen on a move to Wolfsburg with the former Bayer Leverkusen man seeing the Volkswagen Arena side as the best challenge to German giants Bayern Munich.

Chelsea sold Kevin de Bruyne to Wolfsburg a year ago and could be set to repeat the trick.
