The 25 year old enjoyed a successful spell at AC Milan before moving back to his native Brazil and is currently on loan at Sao Paulo though could be tempted by a fresh challenge in the Premier League.
Everton have had a disappointing season thus far and sit in the bottom half of the table and Martinez may feel that record signing Romelu Lukaku needs some support up front.
Pato may not be the same player he was during his San Siro pomp but is young enough to rediscover his potential.
