Reds manager Brendan Rodgers wants to sign the German as a replacement for the out of form Simon Mignolet. The current back up Brad Jones has also not impressed in the opportunities that he has been given.
The 22-year-old stopper only moved to the Catalan club in the summer, but has surprisingly found himself behind Claudio Bravo in the pecking order at the Nou Camp. The highly rated goalie is unhappy with this situation.
“The situation is difficult. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t care and it isn’t easy being a spectator,” said the former Borussia Moenchengladbach man. “I want to be the No. 1 so it’s something I will fight for.
“For now, the manager counts on me for the Cup and Champions League, but I’d like to play in the league. I want La Liga, even if Bravo is doing a good job.”
One stumbling block to any move would be the transfer ban that Barca are currently in the midst of. With the La Liga giants unable to bring in a replacement it means that it would be surprising if they were to let him go.
