Mourinho said defender boots were filled with blood following semi-final win.

Jose Mourinho singled out goal scoring hero Branislav Ivanovic for praise following Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Capital One Cup semi-final, and for good reason, after he literally bled for the cause.

The defender finished the match with boots filled with blood and Mourinho says he should present them to the Chelsea Academy to show the Blues young stars what the mentality of a winner is.

“He has lots of blood and the boot is completely full of red blood and it should go straight to the academy,” he said, reports Daily Mail.

As you can see in the pictures; Ivanovic’s pristine, white boots were soaked and stained red with blood following the extra-time victory by Mourinho’s side.

It was a particularly spiky affair between the two sides but it’s a shock Ivanovic was the star who drew blood first with Diego Costa and Martin Skrtel becoming involved in a series of encounters.

And the Chelsea forward even appeared to stamp both Skrtel and Emre Can on two separate occasions and could yet face retrospective action after the referee appeared to miss both events.

However, despite the on-field battles Chelsea won the only one which mattered and will contest the final at Wembley in February against either Sheffield United or Tottenham.
