Liverpool sent scouts to Portugal this weekend to run the rule over Porto’s Ruben Neves, according to The Mirror.
The 17-year-old, who made his professional debut in August last year, is believed to be one of Europe’s hottest talents.
Porto teammate Cristian Tello has even compared Neves to Barcelona and Spain star Sergio Busquets.
Tello, who is on loan from Barca, is quoted as saying: “He is fantastic with the ball at his feet, he knows how to position himself and he’s aggressive.
“He’s similar to Sergio Busquets.”
Neves has also been watched by representatives from Real Madrid, Juventus and PSG this season.
He has a £29m release clause in his current contract.
