According to Italian media, David de Gea has signed a new contract that will keep the stopper at Manchester United until 2020, easing fans’ worries that the 24-year-old could be moving to Real Madrid in the summer.

De Gea has been a star performer for United so far this season, after saving his side time after time, and his performances have given the Spaniard a world-class status.

Victor Valdes signed on a free transfer to Old Trafford this month, and there has been speculation that the former Barcelona stopper was brought in, not as a back-up to De Gea, but as a replacement with Spanish giants Madrid expected to come knocking.
