Backed by bookmakers Paddy Power, the Frenchman had launched a plan to stand against Sepp Blatter from standing for a fifth consecutive term earlier this month.

The unpopular 78-year-old is facing a number of serious contenders for the post.

However, the Team Ginola website confirmed that he would no longer be in the running for the job, promising full refunds to those who had already donated toward his campaign fund.

Ginola’s campaign id not receive the required amount of backing from five football associations to be nominated for the final stretch.
