MOTD have held onto Premier League highlights after ITV decided against competing with them for the rights, reports the Telegraph.
A bidding war was widely expected, but ITV surprisingly chose not to contend with the public-service broadcaster.
It has since been announced by the Premier League that the rights to highlights of its competition, between 2016-19, has been retained through an offer of £204m – £25m more than was paid in 2012.
This season is the show’s 50th anniversary, and the new deal is a fitting celebration.
